Where is havel the rock in dark souls
He decided he had to go put an end to his old ally Gwyn, for the good of all. And he was preparing to go take him out. And then Gwyn found out about the impending treachery and locked Havel up in a tower to lose his mind and go hollow.
Maybe he lost his faith when he discovered the truth about the gods, or maybe Gwyn stripped him of his power somehow? I just think Havel got locked away because he turned undead.
Gotta remember that he's hollow in that tower, whoever he really is. Hollows dont really have much in the way of intelligence. It's more just zombie-like smash anything that isn't fully hollow too.
I'm guessing that's why he doesn't break out, or use miracles. Again from wiki In an indeterminate time before the event of the game, he became Hollow and was locked in the watchtower for his own good. Hmmmmm mabey it is him in the tower? But i think if it was the real havel he could just smash open the door with his dragon tooth or use wrath of the gods before he went hollow if he even is hollow cuz if you take off his helmet with cheats you can see that hes human or atleast appears to be and if he was undead wouldnt he respawn at the bonfire if he was humanmabey hes not undead and is just waiting to kill someone cuz he does not respawn?
Or it could really be him in the tower i just really like to be as i call it a rainbowsandsunshinemist one that belives everything went well mabey he is there to kill everyone cuz he went nuts possibly.
In my opinion the watchtower basement key is talking about a warrior that got betrayed by havel or did some dumb stuff to havel and got locked away. Hollow doesn't necessarily mean zombie face.
To go fully hollow means losing your purpose and thus your mind, not just dying and turning into zombie form. Someone who has gone fully hollow becomes essentially mindless.
Havel returns once more, this time as an enemy summoned by wizards in Archdragon Peak , and also in a proper encounter at the top of one of the buildings of this sacred place. The fight, however, will not be as difficult as it was in Lordran , since the player will most likely be at a high level and wielding advanced weaponry at that point in the game.
In addition, the combat area will be much more spacious, allowing for better evading maneuvers. New to his repertoire of attacks is the ability to cast Stone Flesh on himself and cover his body with a rock layer, which will render him extremely resilient to attacks, but also reduce his mobility. Havel has a small chance of being summoned by the two Man Serpent Summoners that inhabit Archdragon Peak , one of which is found in the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum , and the other just before reaching the Great Belfry.
Havel's fixed location lies at the top of the building on the right after coming from the Great Belfry , standing in front of a dead wyvern and guarding a Titanite Slab ; it does not matter if he was previously defeated as a summon in any of the other two areas.
As with other enemies of this kind, he will not respawn once he has been defeated in this location. Havel will drop both the Dragon Tooth and his greatshield the first time he is defeated. If the player is not in a hurry to acquire these items, then in the case he is summoned by any of the Man Serpent Summoners it is recommended to avoid fighting him, as the combat area will be not as spacious and the summoner may meddle in the fight. When encountered at his fixed location at the top of the building, he will be facing in the opposite direction from the player, which will give the opportunity to start the battle by backstabbing him casting Spook or equipping the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring will ensure he does not turn hostile prematurely.
His attacks are slow but very powerful and can take out very large amounts of stamina , so they should not be blocked. Using this to your advantage, lure Havel up to the exit of the tower that leads back to the bonfire in the Undead Burg.
Eventually, he'll decide to commit to taking a swing at you this can be provoked easier by using a ranged attack on him and he will follow you down the stairs. Once he does his swing, run in front of him and body block him to prevent him from getting back into the tower and start pummeling him with melee attacks. He will single-mindedly continue trying to get into the tower, and will not attack you until he has made it back in.
You can either attack him from there or continually backstab him as he tries to get back in. Warning There is an open ledge close to the bottom of this staircase! Do not let Havel fall off the ledge, or you will lose the Havel's Ring loot for the rest of your playthrough! Reloading does not make the ring drop at his spawn, unlike most other NPC's.
This works best if you have both the doors in the lower watchtower shortcut to the Darkroot Basin open. Starting from the Undead Burg bonfire with the ladder shortcut to the Undead Parish , leave the room and sprint past everything this part is very important!
You should have the enemies chasing after you, just don't look back. Sprint down the stairs and around Havel, and out the door he was standing next to. Havel should follow you out the door and to the first step, and stop, running into an invisible wall. Some of the enemies who were chasing you should follow, and get stuck behind Havel, in the doorway.
This prevents Havel from backing up into the room, leaving him open to any spell or arrow you want to throw at him; just be careful not to kill the soldiers blocking him. He should die within 3 or 4 hits. Create account or Sign in. Join the Site!

Super easy Melee strategy Attack him THROUGH the door, whenever you get close to the door when it's closed, he'll get close to it, if you then hit the door, he'll take full damage of the strike, though remember that he can hit you through the door as well, each time you've landed an attack, back up, wait a second or two, get close to the door to get him close to it as well, attack again, back up again and repeat.
Ranged Strategy You can do this at any level. This also assumes you're entering his tower from the Undead Burg side. The external staircase you climb in Undead Burg to get to the tower's door where a Hollow tries to hit you with a burning barrel is "the staircase," and the external door at the top of that staircase is the "external door".
Equip a bow and plenty of arrows, the stronger the better. Go down the tower's internal staircase beyond the locked door, only far enough to get Havel following you up.
Retreat back to the external door, making sure Havel is still following you up the internal stairs. If he is, lure him to the external door and run down the staircase back out into the Burg.
Havel will follow you out. Once he's outside the external door and on the external stairs, he'll take precisely one swing at you the overhead slam before backpedaling to his spawn point. You can then run back down the stairs, he'll follow, swing, and return. The key here is that, when backpedaling, Havel never has his shield up. Fire one to two arrows at him as he backpedals up the steps. If you time it right as he's at the top of the stairs, one of those locked-on shots will be a bleeding headshot.
Continue luring him back to the external door, avoid his resulting attack, and then shoot him with arrows again as he backs away. Repeat until he is dead. If you stand in contact with the door you will see something on the other side of it due to improper door rendering, this is Havel. Hit him hard through the door and immediately roll backwards, as otherwise he will attack you through the door and likely kill you.
After he swings you can move back into contact with the door and repeat the process until he dies. Then open the door and collect your loot. You can also use pyromancy attacks to kill him. Walk in through the door if you're coming near from the Darkroot Basin, and once you enter quickly roll backwards out the door.
He should follow you and when he does will attempt to attack you by an overhead swing, and when he does this hit him with a fireball pyromancy. Stock up on about 40 firebombs, although you'll only need around 25 or so. Let him get close enough to begin an attack then simply move back or to the side, after his attack misses he'll be vulnerable for one or two seconds so you can toss the firebomb.
This strategy costs around souls to pull off, but is fairly straight forward for the new player. If your character has high vitality or good armour you will want to keep wearing your armour, classes like the knight can survive one hit, albeit barely. Lastly, Havel doesn't seem to like to leave his tower, so if you're injured you can pop out of the tower and heal safely or play cat and mouse.
Fatal Fall Strategy Enter from either entrance and aggro Havel. Run up the stairs towards the top of the last staircase, right before the door to undead burg, which is also the tallest drop. Perform a jump when Havel gets close and he will follow you, jumping and taking huge damage due to his high equipment weight.
You should also roll when landing, so you can recover faster than Havel. Alternatively; wait at the top of the staircase and roll off when he starts to swing his weapon, run back up and drink some Estus if necessary, rinse and repeat. Make sure you are equipped with a light-weight set, or even nothing.
After falls, he will die. Gold Pine Resin First is to get the gold pine resin, there are 3 in a chest in the residence next to the archer tower in the undead burg. You will need either the residence key or the master key to enter. Then while descending the stairs to confront Havel, use it it lasts 60 seconds.
