It would seem UPS, FedEx and other similar package-delivery operations have too many variables that makes the one-load flexibility of over-the-road trucking a far better solution. One was the Enfamil baby formula load from Evansville and the other was I think Random House encyclopedias. Encyclopedias - enough said! Enfamil - small, heavy boxes that were damaged easily. Both were avoided if possible Intermodal makes the most sense where cost and consistency of travel time is important.
It can't be cheap. I have no idea what we charge UPS for the same haul, but it has to be less cost and less risk schedule and accident!
