Or does the percentage only update occasionally? It has been my experience that the progress bar is often eccentric about the way it advances and extremely inaccurate. In particular it does nothing for a long time and then abruptly jumps to the end when it finishes. However, since you started with gparted, let it continue. Are you sure there is enough room to reduce the amount you wanted to?

Gparted taking way too long, is it stuck? After some research i found about gparted Live. But in the final transaction, to actually allocate the 30 gig to my gb partitions is taking too long and the progress bar is stuck at where it was after 10 minutes, but everything else on the Live usb seems to be working fine.

Also i am moving the partitions to the left which i found out takes longer. How can i know if it is stuck or it Just takes too long? What is a safe way to cancel this operation? This is my first post and is Sent from mobile so, thank you in advance.

Moving to the left usually involves moving not only the partition sectors but also all the data on it and is also more risky if you have boot files at the beginning of the partition but it should work.

I would always recommend using windows tools to modify windows, Disk Management to shrink the windows partition then reboot to verify that it still boots. GParted should work and depending upon how much data needs to be moved, I would not think 10 minutes is a long time. Since you haven't posted specific partition information all we can do is give general information. Everywhere Threads This forum This thread. Search Advanced…. Log in. Jan 3, 2 0 18, 0. How long does a gpart scan take on a 1 TB ext3 drive? Just curious to know how long I have to wait, and there's not much information anywhere else on run times.

Joshua Pearson Honorable. Apr 27, 1 0 10, 1. On my 1TB laptop, it took about 12 hours. Maybe if I had defragmented it would have went faster Jan 3, 1 0 18, 0. I ended up quitting the process after waiting 5 hours.
